HELP can i get ear drops while i'm taking amoxicillin for ear infection to help with clogged feelings? i can hardly hear out of my left ear and this is my first full day on amoxicillin but i was wondering if i could take some sort of ear drops to help with the clogged feeling in my left ear thanks:) i'm on antibiotics for the ear infection, not sinuses, thanks?

Kooky kat replied: "call your doctor and ask him"

Vallon replied: "Your doctor would have told you to get some. And if he didnt I'd say no dont take any"

kelly replied: "I am assuming you are on the antibiotic for a possible sinus infection. Honestly, ear drops won't help for pressure issues. They are more for water in the ear or wax in the ear. No, it wouldn't interfere with the antibiotic, but I don't see it helping either. I think it would be a waste of money. There are a couple of things you can try like holding your nose and blowing very gently, chewing gum, take a hot shower and breathe in the steam (not with fever though), and yawning. The pressure will eventually return to normal, you just have to live with it until it gets better really."

ANTM replied: "Hmm I really dont know. I'd call your doc on that one but my guess is yea"

I have a prescription for Amoxicillin and Cortisporin ear drops. I can go to CVS, pay and get $25 gift card.? Or I can go to Publix and get Amox for free. Or I can go to Target get Amox for $4 and get a $10 gift card. What should I pick?

gly15 replied: "Most pharmacies will match other pharmacies prices if you ask. You may be able to get CVS to let you have the amoxicillin for $4 (it's dirt cheap for pharmacies to purchase) and still get the $25 gift card."

Ear infection healed with amoxicillin caps and drops with neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and hydrocort susp Could one specify the type of infection given what cured it? Does it narrow the set of possible causes? Best guess, what is the most likely culprit? I am 36 and this was the first ear infection I have had since I was 6. So I was a bit worried at first. I went to the doctor after 2 days of symptoms... earache, pain in the eustachian tube area below the ear. I had used Q-tips regularly inside the ear canal with care... meaning not hitting the eardrum. Doc said to stop that which I have and will never do again. Just curious as to what bug might do this and how to avoid it if possible.

Robert J replied: "The Q-tips caused the problem. Don't use them ever again."

Dosage of amoxicillin for kittens? I already posted this ? but i put mG in the other instead of mL.so yea Well my kittens are now 2 wks old and one of them has mucous on his eyes and you can hear clicking when he breathes.I've read that these are signs of a URI(upper respiratory infection). My vet is out of town right now,and i dont want the kitten to die.I have some amoxicillin drops. Wich i have already added the water to.But i dont know how much to give him. i am guessing about . 20 mG. Is this about right or is it too much or should i give them more?I dont know my vets cell number and he is the only vet in my town.so yea.Pleeease help!!

tmmygrl007 replied: "thats really sad! but i think 20 mg's is a bit too much! call an out of town vet if you have to! my mother was a vet and i know for a fact, its different doeses for a different cat! im sorry if this doesnt help you much!"

gilliegrrrl replied: "CALL A DIFFERENT VET!!!! You should never medicate an animal without guidance from a medical professional, and if the infection is viral antibiotics will have no benefit at all. Please call a different vet the next town over, but PLEASE do not medicate your kittens without the advice of a professional."

MrMike replied: "with the kittens you have and the upper infection they got you got the right meds now DO NOT do ML or MG it's ML anyway at 2 weeks old do 3 drops only 3 times aday every 8 hours and keep the eyes and nose clean let it drain but keep the eyes clean with warm water and cotton balls if this gets out of hand they will go blind I know first hand this is a form of rinotracyitesses.spell check that one LOL.but do this for 7 days and do all kittens even if they are not sick it came from mom's milk and she will need some too give her 1.2 ML in a needle drug stores will give them to you and you do not need the pin on the end just to squirt the meds into the mouth remember 3 drops to babys mom get 1.2 for 7 days and have the vet write out a RX for you it's cheeper from CVS 10.00 have them keep water sepred from amoxi it only has a 14 day life span to it after that out it must go not good to give out medicine is dead then.keep it in the frig too any other ? IM me or mail I'll help you out"

savannah replied: "that is so sad. if ur vet is out of town dont wait just go to a differant vet"

Diane S replied: "Take the kitten to another vet. Your vet will no doubt have a stand in while he's away or a number you can call. No doubt he does have URI, but he needs a proper checkup to make sure there are no other complications and to get the correct doesage for the medication. No point in taking risks. I would get all the kittens checked at the same time. Chances are if one has the infection it may well spread through them all. Good luck with the little ones."

Blueeyes replied: "go to.=1&cat=1933 and you will see that human drugs can make an cat or kitten sick or it can kill them. Don't give it to your cat."

Unicornrider replied: "There will not be ONLY ONE VET around you - call any vet, there are nr's all over the web. DIO NOT self-diagnose."

if a pill drops on the floor will it change the effectiveness? I just dropped a brand new bottle of amoxicillin pills on the carpet. I hurried and picked them all up and put them back in the bottle. Do you know if this could have caused them to not work as well? Thanks! :))

babblin'brooke replied: "please tell me this is a 'dumb blonde joke' 'cause you gotta be kidding me.!"

Diane A replied: "No, the floor has nothing to do with their effectiveness."

reeverdark replied: "It shouldn't do, if we are talking about run or the mill stuff like aspirin or the majority of the worlds pharmaceuticals, you do get the odd instances where the chemical bondings that make up the compound are so complex that they brake up even if left for a long time, but you rarely see them and are under special controlled conditions. Depending on the substance I would not have any course for concern."

Is there a home remedy for getting rid of stuffy noses on kittens? My Kitty had been sneezing and had a watery eye I took her to the vet and he said she had Upper Respiatory infection, he perscribed amoxicillin drops and he gave her a cefazolin injection. It's been a week and it seems to be getting better but she still has a stuffed nostrol and she'll still sneeze and her eye is still watery. Is their some kind of a home remedy or something I can buy to help her breath?

gun man replied: "my sister'd cat has the same problems"

delliversagain replied: "ground some habenero peppers and put it in their cat food."

leftygirl_75 replied: "No. continue on the antibiotics as prescribed. do not skip doses and do not stop the mediction until all gone. If not better AFTER using ALL the medication then call your vet."

chi chi replied: "Give the antibiotics time and please ignore the answer about the peppers. I think delliversagain wants to kill the kitty."

Can I take amoxicillin 250mg capsules for an ear infection? I am 14 years old and weigh about 140 pounds. I have a really bad pain inside my ear and it wont go away. Iv'e tried drops but wont work. Is this an ear infection?

namairb2 replied: "You need a doctor to diagnose this. There might be something else going on too. If you take a different antibiotic, and you don't have the full days amount then this will only make this worse. It will also make you tolerant to antibiotics in the future. Where did you get the drops you're trying and are they a prescription antibiotic drop?Just call the doctor and tell them they aren't working and he'll order something else. Do you even know if you can take amoxicillin? Do you have any drug allergy's? Please don't take something that wasn't ordered for you and for this infection. It makes allot more sense to wait until morning and go to your doctor. Then not only can you be sure what you have, but get the right treatment too. They even have ear drops available for the pain too. Good luck and God Bless"

godiardo replied: "I would advise you against self-medication, especially if you're not sure what's causing your ear pain. For all you know, it's only accumulated ear wax that's causing the pain in your ear. This has to be drained out by a doctor. Go and consult a doctor."

r replied: "I have had so many ear infections through out my life. Yes, you can that is what the doctor is going to give you anyway. One in the morning one at night ( make sure what your taking is what you think it is ) and also do you have a ten day supply? Ear infections hurt! good luck :)"
