How will clomid help me get pregnant when my estradiol is too high? I don't understand how a drug like clomid which works with ovulation can help a woman whose estradiol is too high. I know that clomid is used for women with ovulation problems but not hormonal issues.

HIDY replied: "Clomid is an estradiol suppressant."

joyfulgirl replied: "Clomid helps more eggs mature - typically only one does. Estradiol is a hormone and high numbers can mean poor quality eggs. Since you get more eggs with clomid then the chances of getting a good egg are better. we tried to get PG for a very long time. The doctor said it probably wouldn't happen. We finally did 3 month of acupuncture and herbs. It really helped to regulate everything and BAM - PG right away. give it some serious thought. we are 8 months along right now with a baby girl."

I was put on Estradiol to ease cramps? associated with my Mirena IUD.. But while I was researching about estradiol, I discovered it was mostly for menopause. Im 27. Has anyone else taken this drug for cramping?

leannakoh replied: "no. but you can pill for period cramps from your gp"

marry replied: "well..i think you must take another opinion from another doctor.. because i have also heard this for the purpose of menu pause.. as you are just 27...you need to change your pills.. all the best"

My LH is 39.0, FSH 46.5 Estradiol 15, Testosterone, Serum 24, TSH 2.72 & hCG My last period was January and now its April i had some lab work done LH is 39.0, FSH 46.5 Estradiol 15, Testosterone, Serum 24, TSH 2.72 & hCG <5.0 am i truely menopausal i'm 41yrs. My dr recomended me to start using sottopelle. Can i still conceive using this drug? Or is it safe.

Sean L.P.N replied: "Your levels are a bit funky. Your Luteinizing is high and your FSH levels are would indicate that you are menopausal. As far as Estradiol goes, well I always thought the numbers would be much higher then that even for menopausal women, at least in the early years, but these numbers are not something I am very familiar with so I am not 100% sure. Your periods have stopped and from what I know (which is nowhere as much as your OB/GYN or who ever is conducting these tests, your blood tests put you in the menopausal stage, the likelihood of you being able to conceive is low. Although some women do conceive on HRT."

I_Love_McRedneck replied: "I've heard a lot of post-menopausal women conceiving with the aid of anti-diabetes meds. If you're looking to get pregnant, it's something to look into."

Does a woman stopping her periods indefinitely sound healthy? Here's the article: WASHINGTON - A new birth-control pill can halt women's menstrual periods indefinitely. Called Lybrel, the pill is expected to win Food and Drug Administration approval Tuesday, becoming the latest approved oral contraceptive to depart from the traditional 21-days-on, seven-days-off regimen that has been standard since first birth control pills were sold in the 1960s. But the Wyeth pill is the first designed to be taken continuously. Lybrel contains the lowest dose of two hormones widely used in birth-control pills, ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Taking the pill daily would let women suppress their monthly bleeding indefinitely. However, unanticipated breakthrough bleeding may occur in some women. ____________________ Does this seem scary to you??? Do the pharmaceutical companies have a woman's best interest in mind? How do we know this won't cause a host of cancers down the line? Hope those of you on Depo are getting bone density scans on a regular basis. A broken hip from osteoporosis is practically a death sentence.

theresa200586 replied: "this will actually lower most cancers in women, just as the depo shot does (you get a shot every 3 months and most people dont have a period)."

PinkObsession<3 replied: "Ughh...We don't know it wont cause cancer... Just like everyother medicine out there."

Andrea replied: "No. I have been on Depo for a total of 10 years alltogether. I have not had a period for that long. It never affected me and I do not forsee it ever affecting me. I did stop taking it due to weight gain, the weight came off and my period returned in a month. Body right back to normal like nothing. Depo has not caused cancer and I'm sure that a high dose BC pill won't either. Most of the time BC pills are beneficial."

Gypsy Girl replied: "Pharmacetical companies have women's desires in mind. Many women are jumping for joy over this news. That does not mean it is a good idea. It may cause cancer or any number of other health problems which is why I would never take that medication. Not all women are a protective of their health though. Some are more concerned with convenience."

Tiff replied: "Periods are not necessary for a woman's health, so I find nothing wrong with this. Most birth controls now only have the reminder pills so that a woman has her period so that she has the peace of mind each month that she is not pregnant and that she is healthy, menstruating isn't necessary."

presleygirl replied: "anything unnatural is bad, do not let them use you guinea pigs="

TexasDolly replied: "All medications taken into the human body have side effects and some have been known to be very harmful --generally after it has already been on the market. This is why you should always discuss all alternative medications your doctor may prescribe and the side effects of each as well as their interaction with other meds you might be on. This goes for birth control as well as any other medication. Once you have all the facts, you and your doctor should decide together what is best for you and your health situation."

I take clonazepam 0.5 mg twice a day and trinessa 28-day? when i looked up drug interactions with these 2 medicines it said clonazepam and ethinyl estradiol (Minor Drug-Drug) Oral contraceptives may prolong the half-life of certain benzodiazepines that undergo hepatic oxidative metabolism (such as diazepam and chlordiazepoxide). Other benzodiazepines also may participate in this interaction. Close observation for signs and symptoms of altered benzodiazepine effect is recommended. what does all this mean in layman's terms?

jenschronce21 replied: "You can space out the times of day you take your clonazepam and birth control. Basically, tri-nessa can cause your benzos to last longer in your system. I work in a pharmacy and usually I don't see any problem with people who take this medication and birth control at the same time. I personally take a benzo and birth control and have no problem. If you haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary then you have nothing to worry about. If you have any questions about it, it's best that you ask your pharmacist."

adverse drug reaction? Here is the story - a month ago i had a UTI, was given a gram of cipro a day for a week to fix it. two weeks later, my gyno upped my prescription of birth control (norethindrone and estradiol). Starting then, i developed a neuropathy in my extremities (both hands and feet). after a week my doc. sent me to the ER b/c of major prolonged chest pain. ER did a d-dimer test which was positive, ekg normal, chest xrays normal, ct scan of chest normal, sent me home. i stopped the birth control immediately. pain still present (though intermittant and less intesne) two weeks later, and numbness is in left foot/lower calf. Also have sharp localized pain in left calf. Doc thinks i'm just being paranoid by asking him about it. mom told me when she was younger brith control gave her a blood clot in her brain. Any ideas of what it could be? Am i crazy for thinking I'm not completely better yet since no one has done anything to treat me besdies tell me i'm not dying so i shoudlnt' worry?

nyskiermom replied: "Most people can take birth control without any problems, but for a few there are all sorts of weird things that can happen. Given your own discomfort with your level of recovery, and given your family history of sensitivity to these drugs, maybe you need to seek out a second opinion from a doctor who will take you more seriously. I hate reading that this guy thinks you're just being paranoid. I don't think you're paranoid. I don't think you're crazy. I DO think you're getting crappy medical care. Summon your inner bitch and make someone listen!"

mom replied: "ACtually...i was put on birth control about 4 years ago..and i had most of these symptoms!! I stopped the Birth control pills, and after about 2 months i was back to normal...i drank lots of water to flush the hormones from those pills out of my system faster. I am pretty sure the hormones from the pills caused my reactions..also..the cipro is really hard on your stomach..its a stong drug and is known for causing stomach upset...you have no signs of a blood clot on the brain from what i have read....so no worries on that one ! I would think this will go away and you will feel better in a few days.. :D"

I want a new drug? OK, so I just moved to Peru from Canada and totally forgot to stock up on BCP. I've been using Ortho-tricyclen and it's been working out pretty well for me. The problem is that they don't sell here in Lima, at least not in any of the pharmacies I've been to (a lot!). They do have other pills but I don't know them. Most have 0.35 ethinyl estradiol but the amount of "levonorgestrel" (spelling?) is different. Which one should I buy that won't hurt me? You don't need a prescription to get medicine here so the choice is pretty much up to me. Help?

bumblebee replied: "i use ortho-cyclen 28"

ramseyb75 replied: "i want some 2 you got 2 share"

NekoMimi replied: "You don't need a perscription there? Can you mail me Effexor XR and Wellbutrin XL? LOL! But seriously... Is there any way you can see a doctor out there? Contact the manufacturer of Ortho and ask them what name they sell Ortho under in your current are... One of the ones you are looking at might be Ortho-tricyclen under another name!! VERY few medications are sold under the same name across the globe... Sometimes the names are not even similar... Check with the manufacturer before you decide on anything... They might be able to solve your problem for you! Good luck!"

babygirl1 replied: "Well, if they dont sell the medicine you take, you should at least try another type of medicine. That'll probaly help,I think."

Joanne C. L replied: "I can't help you on that one."

Lipo 6X: effectiveness and the pill interactions? Hi! I am considering adding Lipo 6x to my workout routine, and I am wondering if it has any drug interactions with any oral contraceptive (mainly ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel - aka Seasonique). I am in the 18-24 age bracket, non smoker but I do drink. I have had success with Hydroxycut in the past. Are the side effects similar? More intense? Thanks for your help!

sokokl replied: "I would recommend checking with your doctor and pharmacist as well to see what they say."
