Can Diet Pills Mess Up Your Lithium Levels? I am on Lithium and am wondering if it could mess up my levels.

trainer53 replied: "Diet pills mess up everything. You don't need them, eat a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner, go to the gym or take a walk every day and you'll feel great......."

Me2 replied: "I'm not really sure but I would say don't take them. They make you hyper. That's the last thing you need if you're taking lithium. If you want to know for sure then call the pharmacist or your doc. They will let you know what you can and can't take. I would think not though. I have a friend on it and they won't let her take anything over the counter."

Jason F replied: "I would think your safe as long as they didnt contain any kind of stimulant, including caffeine, that leaves most hoodias out, definately the prescription pills and Hydroxycut. Have you heard of Proactol? its an all natural diet pill thats guaranteed to work and clinically proven. check out"

Hassen replied: "DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS! They are dangerous!! And yes, they can mess up lithium levels. Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills (Leptopril -does not contain ephedra) on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5'11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn't feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me. My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood, tested my lithium levels, and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests. I take 250mg tablets (2 the morning, 1 the afternoon, and two at night), yet my lithium test showed I had no lithium in my blood. They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that's why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky. I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes. Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I've lost weight after this) The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas. Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up. In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight) Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore. Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.) Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas."

Are antidepressants affected by diet pills? (A doctor's advice would be greatly appreciated!)? My psychiatrist has me on Depakote, Seroquel, and Lithium. They have worked better on me and my mood swings than any other combination of pills so far - and believe me, I have tried a lot! However, ever since I started taking Depakote, I've been gaining weight like crazy. I'm always hungry. It didn't upset me much at first (I've never been obsessed with having a perfect body), but now I'm getting close to becoming obese, and I don't want my health to be in jeapordy. I am 21 years old (old enough to be on a diet pill), but I'm not sure how safe it would be for me to take while I'm on other pills. I'm a little afraid of asking my doctor, because I don't want him to forbid me from taking them. I DO eat healthy; I just eat too much and I feel too lethargic for exercise a lot of the time. I was thinking of trying TrimSpa - I've read some great reviews and it supposedly gives you more energy. If anyone has some serious advice on this matter, please let me know.

caz_v8 replied: "I am a nurse, not adoctor, but, I can say to you that diet pills usualy make a person open their bowels more often and urinate more often. This affects ANY drug you may be taking, including Lithium. It will make you wee and poo the drug out of your body faster than usual and therefore your therapeutic levels of that drug will drop..have less affect. Best advice is to speak to the pharmacist or your doctor and you may just have to be monitored more closely if you go down the path of taking the diet oills. Otherwise, a good thing to do is limit your food, exercise as you say you do and you will go great!"

Lithium and Phentermine interaction? Is it ok to take both Lithium and the prescription diet pill phentermine together? Will they have any bad interactions? Side effects if taken together? Thanks.

Kate from Drugs.com replied: "There are no known interactions between the two drugs however this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. If you do take these two drugs together, report any unusual symptoms to your doctor."

I have been taking lithium, lamictal and clonazepam for approx. 4 years now due to a Brain Injury? I have recently gained 15 pounds that I wish to rid myself of. Is it safe to take a diet pill when I am taking these drugs?

Linda L replied: "Ask your doctor. I am still on meds 5 years out from my brain injury. I still have to see the neurologist every 3 to 4 months. But if something comes up like this, email the dr's office, or call the dr's office and have the nurse get back to you with the information. As you know everyone's brains are different and so are their injuries and their health. This is not something that you should get an answer from someone who is not a medical professional familiar with your situation."

Im bipolar and tired off taking lithium what herbal suppliment can i take for this please help? The lithium make's me gain weight and i can't deal with all that. I used to be 145 pounds 7 yrs ago but since iv'e been taking this i have gained to be 205 pds it make's my deppression worse. If anyone can help me please do, i would greatly appriciate it. I have spent so much money on diet pills and exercise equipment its disgusting actually.

MLM replied: "There has to be alternative meds that your doc can give you...have you tried anything besides lithium?"

Bailey C replied: "some say that sam e is good. I wouldn't suggest stopping it without first talking to your doctor about alternatives. Some chiropractors are good with alternative medicines."

peacedevi replied: "Could I recomend starting by speaking to your psychiatrist. There are other options. You could try Depakote, however, that one will cause you to gain alot of weight as well. Others that are good and do promote some weight loss are some of the off-label seizure medications such as Topomax and Lamictal. Maybe talk to him and see if either of those or one in the same category might work. Lamictal does work well, I can vouch for it, however you have to go slowly with raising the dose because of a very RARE but serious possible side effect of a rash that apparently can be fatal."

idabearheart replied: "There are a number of mood stabilizers available now other than Lithium. You might consider trying one of them, in consultation with your treating psychiatrist. I don't know of any mood stabilizing herbal supplements. There are some for depression, such as St. John's Wort, but it is not a replacement for the mood stabilizing effects of Lithium. As opposed to "dieting" you may find the Suzanne Sommers eating plan to be effective in maintaining a more normal weight. You can check her out on the internet . Her website is her name .com. Good luck."

yakimablueyes replied: "I am bipolar too and medication is the pits but all I can say is talk to your doctor. Cycling through mania and depression and making your loved ones live through your daily roller coaster is definely worse than a model figure. Ask your doctor about ECT. I did it for awhile and you don't need to take lithium during this therapy. And it works wonders for the depression. Good luck!"

Depon replied: "5-HTP helps with depression. I would be very careful stopping any meds without your Dr knowing. You may need to ween off very slwoly, Like over 3 months or something."

HEAL ONESELF replied: "Hi Rara I gave you the whole list to choose the correct formula for yourself. Natural Cures Aromatherapy: The following essential oils can promote calm and soothe stress: chamomile, clary sage, lavender, sandalwood, and ylang ylang. For depression: bergamot, geranium, jasmine, melissa, neroli, and rose can be helpful, since they act as natural antidepressants. Bach Flower Remedies: Back flower remedies, discovered by British homeopathic physician Edward Bach in the early 20th century, are a safe and often highly effective self-care approach for dealing with a wide variety of mental health disorders. According to Dr. Bach, all illnesses are due, at least in part, to underlying mental and emotional issues that interfere with our connection with Spirit or divine energy. His research showed that energetic frequencies of the various 38 flower remedies he identified are able to resolve and heal mental and emotional imbalances to create overall health. The remedies are very easy to work with and in most cases patients can determine which remedies are most suited for their needs simply by referencing the following chart: Agrimony—Suffering covered by a cheerful or brave facade. Distressed by argument or confrontation, may seek escape from pain or worry with addictive behavior through the use of food, drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol. Aspen —Vague fears or anxiety of unknown origin. Apprehension, foreboding. Beech—Critical, intolerant, or easily finding fault. May overreact with annoyance or irritability to the shortcomings of others. Centaury—Willing servant, overly anxious to please, weak willed, or easily exploited/dominated by others. May neglect own needs to serve others. Avoids confrontation, difficulty saying “no.” Cerato—Lacks confidence in own judgment. Little trust in inner guidance. Constantly seeks advice of others; therefore vulnerable to being misguided. Cherry Plum—Fear of losing mental or physical control, of doing something desperate or violent. Tantrums, suicidal thoughts, impulse to do something thoughtless or known to be wrong. Fear of letting go. May be near nervous breakdown. Chestnut Bud—Failure to learn from experience, repeats inappropriate patterns. Difficulty correcting mistakes. Chicory—Loving, but with expectation of being loved in return. Possessive, emotionally needy, easily hurt or rejected. Clematis—Lacks concentration, daydreams. Drowsy or “spacey” with a halfhearted interest in present circumstances. Inactive, ungrounded. Trouble materializing dreams. Crab Apple—Cleansing remedy when feeling toxic, contaminated, or unclean. Ashamed of self-image. Fear of being contaminated. Need for cleanliness. Can be used to assist detoxification, if needed. Elm—Overwhelmed by responsibilities. Normally capable, now doubts ability to perform tasks. Temporary feelings of inadequacy due to overload. Difficulty prioritizing. Gentian—Mild despondency or discouragement due to setback, difficulty, or failed expectation. Negativity reverses easily with positive events or successes. Gorse—Helplessness, hopelessness, sense of futility. Convinced situation will not improve; may not be willing to try remedies. Heather—Self-centered, self-obsessed, or self-absorbed. Seeks the companionship of anyone who will listen to them. Constant chatterer, poor listener, unhappy if left alone. Holly—Strongly felt negative feelings: hatred, envy, jealousy, suspicion, revenge, or wrath. Honeysuckle—Dwelling in the past: old traumas, nostalgia, homesickness, regrets for happier times. Little expectation of future happiness. Hornbeam—Mental fatigue and tiredness; procrastination. Weary before day or task begins, the “Monday morning” feeling. Difficulty starting. Impatiens—Impatience, irritability, restlessness, or frustration with slow moving people and events. Quick in thought and action, requires all things to be done without delay. May prefer to work alone. Larch—Lacks self-confidence despite being capable. Feels inferior. Anticipates failure; may refuse to make effort to succeed. Best of health to you"

PoisonGirl replied: "Hi, you recently just answered to my question and I would like to talk more about it. Could you please e-mail me so I can ask you more questions? I'm really interested and would like to know more. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question but this was the only way I could contact you. Thank you"

Bee replied: "You could try 500mg of St. John's Wort and 1 Vitamin D capsule (to help it dissapate without making you nauseous) daily, but come off Lithium SLOWLY or you'll have a reaction. You should really speak with your doctor or another as to how to wean off the Lithium safely."

lv_consultant replied: "most likely you need to increase your intake of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. they are the MOST important fats in the human diet. they are used to construct neurotransmitters and receptors. when the diet is lacking in them the body is forced to use substandard materials which effect the way signals are passed in the brain..."

Random Bloke replied: "If you are unwell enough to have been prescribed Lithium, then forget about herbals and other complementary/alternative approaches. There are plenty of alternative meds to Lithium, though they are all way more expensive. Depakote probably won't be one for you, as it is also noted for weight gain, but Lamictal is weight neutral (and I love it) so it may be worth talking to your doc about it. It has a very low side effect profile as well, and it has antidepressant properties. If you and your doctor feel that this is a good course of action, then the exercise equipment really will come into its own. FWIW, many psychiatric drugs cause weight gain - I also take Zyprexa and that is a b!tch for weight gain, but stopping it for even a couple of weeks meant that the pounds started coming off down the gym. There is a way round your weight."

rioku_chan replied: "Also if you want to loose weight and tone your body, you must do some light weight training, I would recommend the treadmill at 7%incline for 20 minutes at a time, then some light weight training 5 pounds in each hand up down up and down. Also drink lots of water. Also try to avoid greasy fat food, substitute your diet with more salads and thigns with lots of nutrients, when you have eggs, take out the yellow part, that has the cholesterol, and maybe try soyjoy, eat those instead of chips or something, itschaep, healthy and it gives great energy, For me it works really good, i eat it before I go to the gym and its great. So I am not a doctor but that's what I reccomend!! For cellulite you can try toning it by using high inclines on the treadmill, at 3.9 or 3.5 mph otherwise umm if you want to take pills...you go do that.. The primary way diet pills work is to suppress a person's appetite. Some of these products claim that they "burn fat"; others claim they don't even let fat develop. Don't be fooled. Remember that just because it's in the media — say, in a magazine ad — doesn't mean that it's true. Diet pills can be dangerous, ineffective, and even addictive. They may cause headaches, heart palpitations, drowsiness, anxiety, a rapid pulse rate, sleep problems, or dehydration. Taking diuretics increases the amount of urine a person excretes. Both basically rid the body of fluids, not fat, which, as you know, does not produce permanent weight loss. Laxatives are dangerous because they speed up the digestive process, which reduces the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, leaving you weak and dehydrated. They also can cause abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Diuretics also are dangerous because as they're ridding the body of fluids (as well as nutrients; specifically, potassium), they can cause dehydration and bloating, which actually will make a person feel fatter. Though these methods may seem like a sure-fire way to lose weight, they are both very dangerous. Your body will lack the nutrients it needs to provide energy, so the body looks internally for energy. Your body may start to use stored fat and release a high amount of it into the blood, which may cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, confusion, and eventually may lead to death. •Eat low-fat and fat-free foods and beverages that are also low in calories. •Avoid fried foods, and eat broiled, baked, poached, and steamed foods instead. •Keep low-calorie, ready-to-eat foods handy for snacking. •Limit salt and sugar intake. •Drink lots of water. Be physically active •Get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. •Do more vigorous physical activity, like aerobics or running. Keep a food and activity journal if your really serious f you need to gain weight because you are underweight or because you want to gain weight for athletic reasons, such as football or wrestling, you should first consult your doctor. A doctor can help you decide how much weight you need to gain and help you develop a plan to do so. Most likely, the following are some of the tips your doctor will provide for healthy weight gain Eat foods high in complex carbohydrates, such as breads, pasta, cereal, and potatoes. •Eat more fruits and vegetables. •Eat more low-fat dairy products, like milk, yogurt, and cheese. •Eat larger portions of lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and nuts. Eat (at least) three times a day. Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That's the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight... you must eat (the right things, of course) • Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas. • Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try. OK, one apple after 18:00 • Don't starve Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health. Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet. • Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast--eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer. WHAT to drink for losing weight... • Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day ! Can be tap, plain, mineral, sparkling. I just love mineral sparkling water! This improves your bowel, reduces the "hunger" sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks! Don't believe the slogan "water makes me fat". Beside being stupid... you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys. • Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed juice"

tom4bucs replied: "save your money on diet pills find out how many calories you need per day - by the Mayo Clinic Diet Tool (free) just Google it now cut by 15% - eat 5 small meals a day - and drink your water keep up that great exercise and 2 lbs a week is a worthy goal - and you will shape up all the best"

Nate replied: "sigh.... ok 1st of all, if there was a diet pill out there that made everyone skinny and muscular do you really think there would still be fat people walking around? Why would anyone go to a gym if they could just take a pill? Well the answer is there isn't such a pill, that's the thing I love most about fitness, there are no shortcuts, no head starts, and you get out of it exactly what you put into it. The reason you probably stopped losing weight is your body has adapted to your workout routine, you need to increase the intensity and duration of your workouts. For example if the 30 minutes of exercise is running try and go a minute or two longer every time you run, go for an extra block or just a little longer on the treadmill, once you get over 50 minutes or so just try and go the same distance but faster every time. If you don't do this your body will become so efficient at the workout you are doing that you will barely lose anything from the workout. If you want to build muscle you'll need to lift weights, unlike diets and pills weights are not a fad and I can't stress enough how important they are to anyone's health. There's no way around it but I promise if you try them out you'll love them in no time, I wasn't so different from you a few years ago and now I love going to the weight room or going for a run. As far as the stretchmarks go I'm afraid your out of luck, those puppies are here to stay, if your that worried about them you can go see a dermatologist, I'm not sure what they can do for them, but lifting and exercising certainly won't make them any better."

Is anyone else bothered about how many people you know on meds? No kidding, everyone I know is on something, ritalin, lithium, xanax, ativan...I'm starting to wonder who's crazy...me or them!(I'm not taking anything) I know there is true mental illness out there, and I agree it should be treated but it seems to be way out of hand. I feel like people think there is some magic pill that will make life perfect. My life isn't perfect either but If I'm down, I take action to get back up, if im anxious, I do something to relax, If i cant sleep I work out harder or change my diet. What happened to making changes before popping pills? Docs seem to be more than willing to pass meds out. Just wanted to hear what others think... Irene, 6 out of 8 are on something (my closest friends and family) I'm honestly not judging, I stated that I know true illness exists. But is it really "that" common? If so, we have bigger fish to fry.... Thanks to everyone, I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way...

John replied: "I completely agree with you. The docs are pill happy. If you tell them you're feeling down they'll drug you up. They put me on prozac, though I didn't need it. (My mom's doing). Whenever she thought I was on it, she thought I was better when in reality I had quit taking it months before."

big replied: "this is the age of the pill lol sorry i have been through this with dr. after dr. about being on a pill for this pill for that i think it is all a crock of crap you make life what you want it to be if you think you need a pill i know some dr. that will give ya some good ones just so they make some money lol"

georgiegirl422 replied: "i'm not bothered by the number of people I know who are on meds. What bothers me is that some of the people I know who have some mental problems play the game "I'm crazier than you are." they sit around and compare who has the most problems and the most messed up life. that bothers me more than the fact they are on the meds."

feldwebel replied: "Sure am !!! Doctors today have a pill for every malady known to man !!Sad part is lots of these meds just mask the symptoms of whats really wrong !! Many young people are taking stuff that would put a bull elephant on its butt !!Xanax is an anti - anxioletic and they presribe it for everthing but.One beer and a 2 mg. 'bar' can kill ya !!Same w/ methadone & alcohol !! All it takes is ONE time and ADIOS !!!!!!!!!!"

canyon-ghost replied: "You got it! They pass that stuff out like candy. Lately, painkillers are around. I think with the old One-A-Day generation, we started thinking the magic pills would save us. One A Day does make a difference-it has enough B vitamins to actually make you feel good. But your 100% right, if you don't like something in life, make changes, make it happen!"

Irene F replied: "If you are not taking anything and you feel good, then keep doing what you are doing. Please don't judge other people. They have the choice about what to do about their health, including their mental health. I think people are lucky that those drugs exist. You really do not want to experience bipolar disorder, anxiety attacks, depression, etc. first hand. I doubt that *every single person* you know is taking psychoactive medication."

billyjean replied: "I don't think I know a lot of people on meds but if I did it would bother me as much as it bothers you to know a lot of people on meds. Or, maybe I do know people on meds but I don't know they're on meds. I do know one person on Zoloft (or who was on Zoloft) and I absolutely think that because her doctor did not prescribe the correct dosage, it was causing more problems for her than it was solving. If you wanted to argue she shouldn't have been on it at all, I would not disagree. The bottom line with regard to anti-depressants is: (IMO) They can be a life-saver for people in serious need who won't respond to anything else but they're are over-prescribed, yes. I believe they're over-prescribed largely because insurance companies don't want to pay for therapy. Therapy takes years and is quite expensive. Pills are cheap in comparison."

NightBear01 replied: "OMG! Yes! Its not just the mental health pills. My doctor wants me on weight loss pills, cholesterol meds and blood pressure meds (even though my blood pressure is in the new "normal" range, everyone in my family has high cholesterol but no heart disease, and I am happy with my weight and have no family history of diabetes!) Almost everyone I know is on something and my doctor told me that most people are on an average of 4 meds and he doesn't understand why I am hesitant to take something I don't think I need when it would help so much (according to him), I fired this doctor and go to the new one next Wednesday."

Bryan L replied: "I know what you mean. There is now "life perfect pill" but it would be nice if there was. You excell where others lack. You have the motivation to keep going when others cant. Count yourself BLESSED!"

anotherproblem replied: "I too, am concerned about how many people that are on so many medications. Medications can be very helpful, but it seems like they are supposed to be the answer for the underlying causes of the problem. I have anxiety and there are some excellent medications for it. However, when I get busy and get my mind on other things I feel better than when I take medicine for it. I don't like the way some doctors "experiment" with so many different pills and never once tell the patient taking them what benefits they can cause. I only have to take my medication as needed, but it seems to me some people get hooked on so many meds and then that's another problem. A lot of people go to different doctors to get medications they are likely to get hooked on and don't tell the other doctor they are taking anything else. I only have one doctor and one pharmacist. In this day and time we have become too dependent on pills and I think it's a major problem in the United States today. If you're a Christian person, it really helps to have a "prayer partner" to pray with or just read your Bible and ask God to give you the answers you need. Taking medications doesn't mean you are crazy-I know some people with Schizophrenia that could not function without their medication."

A question on OCD mental illness? I have been dignosed with Purely obsessional compulsive disorder. I've been on all of the newer SSRI types, including Clomipramine. I have tried agumenting with new and old generation anti-psychotics. Nothing is working. This rubbish is destroying my life. I know that diet and exercice can help, but the focus here, is on pharmacy drugs. I'm open to all suggestions. Any natural health products that might help? Any drugs in particular that could help? Cheers. Another thing, in order to numb my illness, I have been taking codeine pills, and oxycontin. The only thing that separates me from being junky scum is that I am yet to use needles. Please tell me what life is like for a heroin adict, from their very first hit and onwards...Thanks Oh, this is my curent medication list LEXAPRO 40MG, SEROQUEL 1200MG, LITHIUM 900MG, AND LORAZEPAM 1MG AND DIAZEPAM 5MG. Oh, by the way, how many ways can you take heroin and what is the efffectiveness of them?

MishMash replied: "A policeman who has dealt with a lot of heroin addicts told me that one of them told him that "the first 2 hits are total orgasm and further hits are just to stop the side effects of not having it, the initial feeling is not repeated." The life of a heroin addict is misery. Why don't you start eating some lean beef 3 times a week, 2 fruit and 5 vegetables a day. Include nuts, grains and cereals, eggs and dairy if not allergic. If you like I could give you a list of foods that contain antioxidants, magnesium and foods to improve your mood."

Sixfeettall replied: "Heroin was developed to cure morphine addicts...and it turned out to be a worse addiction. Why in God's name would you want to be a heroin addict anyway? Stop numbing your OCD and take charge of it. See a cognitive behavioral therapist. It sounds to me as if you are looking for an excuse to get high, sorry."

DopelessHopefiend replied: "Heroin. The first hit is what I spent nine years chasing, homeless, helpless, and completely hopeless. The first hit is unbelievable, pure euphoria. I shot it, IV, so maybe it's different for other methods of use, but it doesn't matter. It's not the first hit you have to worry about. It's the millions of shots after that, the years spent living on the streets, frostbitten toes, frozen tears, eating garbage or nothing at all, smelling and feeling like the walking dead. It's the emotional pain, knowing you're not just hurting yourself, though the one you hurt the most is yourself, but knowing you're hurting everyone who loves you, and everyone you rob, and everyone you threaten with weapons and fists, and everyone who gets between you and the dopehouse. I overdosed and died twice, overdosed and stopped breathing but still had a pulse countless times, burned holes in my clothes and flesh nodding out with a lit cigarette (and didn't even feel it until I'd try to clean up.) I stole from anyone and everyone, did anything and everything I had to to get more dope, and gave away my entire life. Now I am clean, but still broke, with felony charges pending. It isn't the physical stuff you have to worry about. It's the emotional, the pain. I can't describe the feeling when you come to one winter day and realize it's Christmas, another one alone on the streets. And so much more, just so much pain. So life for me, as a heroin addict, is complete and absolute degradation, isolation, and despair. There is no good after the first shot. It is your choice, but think long and hard about the decision to pierce your vein, because once you cross that line, there is no turning back. And as a junkie, I can attest to the fact that Oxycontin is just dope in pill form. You're walking the razor's edge, or should I say the needle's tip- step down, because if it isn't already, it will be too late damn soon."

Crazy Horse replied: "My step daughter has OCD and doesn't take anything for it. What's causing your pain? You should try some research on some health websites and see if that's any help to you."

black.hat27 replied: "do you suffer from a specific ocd like from Contamination, Performing tasks or Intrusive thoughts and fears. it helps to know because there are many possible alternative treatments you may be able to try such as Behavioral therapy, Alternative drug treatments, Psycho-surgery or Transcranial magnetic stimulation the best thing i suggest is to do a lot of research on the internet and reading books the more research you do the better knowledge you can have on your condition and you can have a better understanding of where to access help"
