Fluconazole? So I took a Fluconazole 150 mg this afternoon. Would it be alright to drink alcohol tonight?

spacepants2003 replied: "I don't think there are any interactions between Fluconazole and Ethanol. The problem is alcohol is contra-indicated when you have a yeast infection. I would wait until the infection is gone, not because of a drug interaction but because of the infection itself. Copied From a website, see source below: "Yeast infections may also be caused by the birth control pill, immune compromise (which allows opportunistic infections like candidiasis to occur), immune-suppressing steroid medications, parasitic infections, diabetes and consuming excess carbohydrates, sugar or alcohol.""

thick_red_bone_03 replied: "it is an anti fungi drug. alcohol can reduces its affectiveness. i would wait 7 day, or use a 3 day cream with it."

Is there any interaction with fluconazole and magnesium citrate? any interaction with taking? I am taking 800 mg of fluconazole for coccididiomycosis (Valley Fever) and have been advised to take additional magnesium citrate powder. Is anyone aware of any interactions between the two?

quantranpharmd@sbcglobal.net replied: "There's no interaction between the 2. However, questions like this are more appropriate for pharmacists to answer. Do not rely on people on the web since they may not have the proper knowledge. Hope you get well soon!"

what is the usual dose of fluconazole for yeast infection of the body not vaginal ( for ex. intestinal yeast? infections). I know that up to 200 mg of fluconazole is given for vagianl yeast infections and that it is only a one time dose, but i would like to know what is the dose given for bodily organ yeast. Is it just a one time dose or are there many more?

jfb replied: "For a systemic candidal infection it is possible to take 200mg every day for 7 days."

Nursy replied: "I had a yeast infection in my breasts because my baby got thrush and the dosage was 250mg, one dose, one pill. I've heard as much as 400mg for a loading dose and then 100mg every day for a week or 10 days... it depends on the dr and where exactly the infection is I suppose."

tikababy replied: "I have never heard of that I am going to have to google on that one sorry I can't help you with this one."

TKDMAN121 replied: "The most common dose is 200mg in one dose for the first day and 100mg to 200mg a day for anywhere between 7 and 10 days. There is really not enough information to answer your question without knowing the site of the infection or the causative organism. If this is about you then you REALLY need to see your physician. The reason is that other than Vaginal infections or the occasional eye infection systemic yeast infections are the result of an opportunistic organism. That is there is some underlying cause that allowed the yeast to set up housekeeping. The differential diagnosis can be a number of bacterial infections all the way to HIV. Please consult your physician."

Dr Chris Steele, TheFamilyGP.com replied: "It depends what you mean by bodily organ yeast infection. I'm a doctor and i'm still not sure what you mean! Nevertheless, the doseage for fluconazole actually depends on where you have the fungal infection, and what is causing you this fungal infection. You really must not depend on answers from people on yahoo answers - you have to discuss this with your own physician, who will know your full medical history and the reasons why you have been prescribed this drug. I would love to be able to give you a concise reply, but the doseages of fluconazole depend so much on the cause of your fungal infection - see your doctor!!"

How long does it take for fluconazole (Diflucan) to work on ringworm? I have a terrible ringworm infection that I mistakenly treated with 1% hydrocortisone cream for the past few months, and it's worsened incredibly since then. My physician diagnosed it as ringworm, and prescribed griseofulvin and lotrimin. At first, the lotrimin helped considerably and cleared up the rash in a few days, but it started to become itchy, and, in my stupidity, I put a little hydrocortisone cream on it. Now it's spread to the other side of my neck and is constantly either burning, itching, crusting, or oozing clear liquid. My doctor took me off of those medications and now has me taking 200 mg of fluconazole once a week. I took my first dosage today, and my rash is less itchy now, but I think that's due to the calamine lotion he recommended. Is this fluconazole even going to work on my tinea corporis? Should I buy some lamisil cream? I know that fluconazole only inhibits the growth of the fungus, but if I could find something to kill it outright, that'd... be better.

hlizzy21 replied: "You should begin to notice a considerable difference 24 hours after your first dose of diflucan. I would stick witht the calamine lotion, using a new cotton ball for each spot so you dont spread it. I had ringworm once as a teenager, my mom just got some over the counter anti-fungal from the store, I applied that serveral times a day when needed and after showers, it went away in no time. Best of luck to you."

cookinB4U replied: "I remember that it was 3 weeks to three months. Stubborn stuff, isn't it? I found TOLNAFTATE cream at the $.96 store and this seemed to help me although it didn't kill it and it always seems to be lurking around and waiting to flare up again."

how long does it take the pill fluconazole to work for a yeast infection? I have been using monistat 3, and 2 nights ago was my last dose of it. everything was seeming kind of fine but now i have slight itchyness back and uncomfortable feeling. my doctor then called in fluconazole 150 mg. will this help better than monistat. or when will i start to feel some sort of relief. thanks by the way, i was told it was a yeast infection by my doctor. its NOT a sexually transmitted disease or anything just to make that clear so i can get the right answers. thanks

ladiebugg81 replied: "Yes, this will work a WHOLE lot better than that cream stuff. You should be feeling some relief soon after you take I would assume."

Jen replied: "Fluconazole is supposed to work in one day and does work much better than the topical. You may not feel relief for a couple of days and may have to use a topical."

Fluconazole (150 mg)? My doctor has prescribed me Fluconazole but it came with a pamphlet that says it can cause fatal liver disease. should i still take it?

Le-a-tsi replied: "Don't worry, those things are so stupid. I had a nausea medicine that the side affect was nausea."

Alissa, R.N. replied: "All drugs have side effects and risks, regardless. If you're only taking 1 pill (I assume for a yeast infection), then it's not going to cause any liver problems."

will 1 dose of fluconazole 150 mg cure my shitzu from yeast on his body and ears? My shitzu has been to the vet numerous times always diagnosed with yeast. The skin on his stomach is red and bald and his is pretty much red all over and he smells awfull. He is a pretty vicious dog so he was kept outside with access to our basement to sleep eat and so forth. Now the kids have moved so he has calmed down a little. anyhow we are moving him back in the house but need to get rid of the yeast.. we gave him a fluconazole today and i really can't see it "curing" it with 1 dose

veronica1276 replied: "i had to take a pill called that wen i had yeastie beasties n it worked for me lol but they prolly have different pills for animals lol plus pills take a while to work u will prolly notice it in the next 24 hours or somethin"

13 weeks pregnant and taking Fluconazole? Midwife prescribed me 150 mg fluconazole and told me its safe to take because its less than 400 mg, have anyone ever had a bad experience with it?

oolalaluvme replied: "She should know what is safe and what isn't but if you are really concerned you could always get a second opinion from an ob"

Almost_a_Mom replied: "Yes, Ive had to take it a couple of times during this pregnancy. Its fine."

can fluconazole cause erectile dysfunction? i had to use fluconazole 200 mg for 4 weeks now, and i“m experiencing a notorious erectile disorder, can any doctor confirm if there is a relation?

iDea replied: "as far as i know, fluconazole adverse effects are: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort. Other side effects include headache, alopecia, skin rashes, hepatic necrosis, and rarely neutropenia. In pregnant woman, it can cause teratogenic effect. a member of the same group azole i.e ketoconazole can reduce adrenal cortical steroids, testosterone and estrogen synthesis - thus causing gynacomastia, oligospermia, loss of libido and impotence in males; menstrual irregularities and amenorrhea in females. fluconazole is less toxic than ketoconazole. but, as in your case, maybe there are variation in response towards drug. consult your doc about this and maybe he can change your medication. good luck!"

DSX replied: "I will pass on the answer to my question meds and illness mess with your penis if what i have been told is right we just have to wait it out Good Luck"

My Dr. Prescribed me Fluconazole which is a generic for Diflucan to treat yeast infection? How long does it take to get back to normal it is a 100 mg tablet and the Dr. gave me a 3 day course. I am soo anxious to get back to normal.

mnm313 replied: "You should feel a big improvement by day 2. By day 3, it should be gone."

Kristy replied: "A 3 day antibiotic usually stays in the body a bout a week. But you will feel better in about 2 days and back to normal in a week."

pooterilgatto replied: "When I get Diflucan it is generally 1 Tablet. That takes care of the Yeast infection. Look up your dosage, if you need to take a 3 Day regimen then that is why you have 3 tablets.and you take one for 3 days If you are still uncertain, call your Doctor and they should be able to clarify this for you. The other option is to call your Pharmacist"

Kevin H replied: "The infection should be gone in 4 days."
